Research: Archives (national and Catholic), Parishes, Villages
Many vital records of your ancestors cannot be accessed without coming to Poland. On your arrival new troubles arise: finding the documents,
communicating with officials, acquiring permissions. We can help you overcome these problems. Together we will visit the churches, registration
offices and archives and assist you in finding and interpreting your new genealogical data. We can even do the research prior to
your visit in Poland, too. Of course, in case you don't plan to visit Poland for the moment, we are ready to provide a similar research assistance
and send you results on the internet, or photocopies by regular mail.
Travel: Itinerary Planning, Guiding and Driving
Translation: Polish, English, Russian, German, Latin
We will translate old documents and letters to/from your family in Poland (or any other material you would be interested in).
We are not frightened by the old-fashioned or rural expressions, strange scripts from the past, or ancient ways of writing dates. Deciphering
all that can immensely contribute to your family history and often save long months of hitting a brick wall in your search.
Photography: Film and/or Digital
Discovering Roots offers pictures of your ancestral villages. We can make digital as well as regular pictures* for you of any chosen village.
We will photograph churches, cemeteries, local historic monuments, ancestral houses, local people or other interesting features, on your special request.
We will check the telephone directory, interview locals to find out if any of your relatives still remain in the village. Our experience includes also
photo documentation of our trips, family reunions and records with digital as well as regular pictures of a high quality.
We operate in all Poland but our main area of expertise is the historical region of Greater Poland (Wielkopolska) with its capital city
Poznan
(aka Posen)
